DAY 02 ARRIVE ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA / KILIMANJARO, TANZANIA/ ARUSHA
On arrival in Addis Ababa, connect to your international flight to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
Jambo na Karibu! Hello and welcome to Tanzania. You are welcomed by our VIP meet and greet at the immigration entry point, escorted to baggage claim, and accompanied through customs into the arrivals hall. Here our African Travel Inc. representative will be holding a sign with your name on it, waiting to transfer you to your lodge accommodations, where you will spend the night under the star-studded African skies.
ACCOMMODATIONS: LAKE DULUTI SERENA HOTEL
Nestled at the foot of the wooded slopes of Mount Meru, this unique hotel stands amid coffee plantations on the shores of tranquil Lake Duluti. Designed to echo the traditional style of the colonial coffee farm, which originally stood on this site, the hotel offers several cottage-styled rooms in extensive landscaped grounds. The rooms are accommodated in banana-stem thatched huts, each with a private balcony that boasts magnificent views of the surroundings. Each room has a telephone, Wi-Fi connectivity, hair dryer, ensuite bathroom and large, comfortable bed. Other room amenities include a ceiling fan, mini bar and satellite TV. DAY 03 ARUSHA / TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Depart after breakfast and begin your road journey to Tarangire, one of Tanzania's largest national parks, best known for its large elephant population and the majestic baobab trees that dwarf the animals that feed beneath them.
The park is dissected by the Tarangire River which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. During the dry season, animals migrate to Tarangire from Manyara National Park giving it the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem. Other wildlife of interest includes the stately fringe-eared oryx and the long-necked gerenuk.
Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive.
ACCOMMODATIONS: TARANGIRE SOPA LODGE
Tarangire Sopa Lodge is nestled among the small rocky hills or kopjes scattered with ancient baobab trees. All spacious rooms at this lodge have a private lounge with a mini bar. Each room has two queen-size beds with a mosquito net around them. Ceiling fans keep the rooms cool and glass sliding doors open out on to a balcony, with a great view of the landscape beyond. Wildlife can sometimes be spotted while sitting on the balcony. The bar is located between the lobby and the dining room furnished with comfortable seats for total relaxation. The dining room is a large, spacious, and airy room with an enormous outdoor patio. Other lodge amenities include a gift shop, swimming pool and laundry service is available at an additional cost.

DAY 04 TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK / LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast this morning, your overland journey continues to the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park and your reserved accommodations.
After lunch, depart on an afternoon game drive in the park. This small but uniquely diverse national park is a wonderful introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife and is also home to the world famous, but rarely seen, tree climbing lions.

Standing high on the edge of a towering terracotta escarpment with panoramic views over the glittering waters of Lake Manyara, the lodge offers peace and tranquility, wildlife discovery, and ornithological richness. The two story ensuite rondavel rooms are strung out along the edge of the cliff to allow for maximum views. The interior décor reflects the blue of the lake and the pink of its flamingos. Each room has a telephone, hair dryer, bathrobe, slippers and Wi-Fi connectivity. Grouped around a central vanishing horizon pool, the lodge features a reception area, built in traditional African style, which is accessed via a bridge over a small stream. Beyond reception, lies the central dining room, bar and veranda, below which lies the pool. DAY 05 LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK / NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
This morning, continue your journey to the Ngorongoro Crater where the next two nights are spent at a lodge set on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

This unique lodge clings to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater. Designed to blend completely into the landscape, the lodge takes its inspiration from the prehistoric site of Olduvai Gorge, which lies close by.
Linked by arched stone passages and timbered decks, the walls are decorated with stylized prehistoric cave paintings and lit by torches. The rooms are set around the Crater rim and each has a rock-enclosed balcony, with uninterrupted views of the volcanic amphitheater below. The dining and bar area features a wall of windows, which look down on the crater below, while double doors lead out on to a broad viewing terrace. DAY 06 NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
This morning we’ll depart to the Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic lunch. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the stunning landscape of Ngorongoro Crater combined with its spectacular wildlife is one of the greatest natural wonders of the planet. Enclosed within its towering walls are grasslands, swamps, forests, saltpans, a fresh water lake and a glorious variety of birdlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor before heading back up to the lodge for an afternoon at leisure.

DAY 07 NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA / SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will travel overland, along with fellow guests to the Serengeti.
Serengeti - the very name fires the imagination and is derived from the Masai language meaning "endless plains". The Serengeti offers the greatest concentration of plains animals in Africa. More than two million wildebeest, half a million Thompson's gazelle and a quarter million zebra gather for annual migrations, attracting a great deal of predator attention from lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena.
Your days are filled with shared game viewing activities, morning and afternoon, when the animals are most active.

Set high on an acacia tree-clad ridge with panoramic views across the Serengeti, the lodge has been designed to blend into the landscape. Inspired by a traditional African village, the stone-built, thatched rondavels feature ensuite bathrooms, telephone, Wi-Fi and private balconies. Hairdryers are available from the reception desk. The two-tiered dining room is supported by massive pillars and embellished with traditional ‘Makonde' carvings. A circular terrace looks out over the grounds and the swimming pool. DAY 08 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy a full day of morning and afternoon game drives in the spectacular Serengeti. Negotiating roads and tracks, your guide slowly transports you to a world of unrivaled scenic splendor, revealing sights and sounds of astonishing realism.
A lion relaxing, temporarily satiated after its morning hunt, contented elephant carefully guarding their young as they traverse the bush, a startled warthog running with tail erect, the ungainly and seemingly endless herds of wildebeest quietly munching grass in company with the zebra - these are some the images you will collect and preserve.
Return to the lodge for breakfast and some time to rest before the afternoon game drive, which ends just before dusk. At the end of the day return to the familiar surroundings of the lodge, pleasantly tired but brimming with enthusiasm about your experiences during the day, indulge in the luxury of a hot shower before dinner. Relax after dinner while the night and its inhabitants settle around you and you ponder the wonders of Africa.

DAY 09 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK / ARUSHA / KILIMANJARO / ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA
Enjoy your final morning in the bush. After breakfast, you are transferred to the airstrip for your tour flight to Arusha. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by a transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport where you will be assisted with check in for your international departure flight. (BL)
