DAY 01 WASHINGTON DULLES / ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA
Today depart Washington Dulles International aboard your flight bound for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

DAY 02 ARRIVE ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA / NAIROBI, KENYA
On arrival in Addis Ababa, connect to your international flight to Nairobi, Kenya.

Jambo na Karibu! Hello and welcome to Nairobi, or in the Maasai language, "place of cool waters". On arrival in Nairobi, after clearing immigration and customs formalities, claim your luggage and proceed through the arrivals hall. As you exit the building, you will be met by an African Travel Inc. representative and transferred to your hotel. Your evening is at leisure and dinner is on your own account.



ACCOMMODATIONS: NAIROBI SERENA HOTEL - Standard room
The Nairobi Serena Hotel offers an oasis of serenity amidst the bustle of one of Africa's most vibrant capital cities. The interior décor reflects an entirely pan-African theme featuring art and inspiration from Ethiopia, the Maghreb, West Africa and East Africa. DAY 03 NAIROBI / OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY
Following breakfast, begin your journey to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, one of East Africa's largest rhino sanctuaries. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy sweeping views of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. Meet your ranger for an afternoon game drive into the reserve and be ready to photograph a wealth of wildlife.




Ol Pejeta Conservancy lies between the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 90,000-acre private wildlife conservancy, which includes the 24,000-acre Sweetwaters Game Reserve. Host to all the members of the ‘Big Five' (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard), as well as, giraffe, zebra, eland, oryx, waterbuck, Grants gazelle, Thompsons gazelle, cheetah, silver-backed jackals, ostrich, hartebeest, baboon and many species of nocturnal animals, the conservancy has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio and is one of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya. The conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, shelters large numbers of rare and endangered species and several hundred bird species.



ACCOMMODATIONS: SWEETWATERS SERENA CAMP - Morani tent
Sweetwaters Serena Camp is a sheltered oasis, set in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The canvas interiors and solid wood floors create the charming blend of under-canvas ambiance and safari luxury. All of the tents have private verandas overlooking the water hole and each has an ensuite bathroom, with hot shower and flush loo. All the tents are equipped with bathrobe, slippers, tea and coffee making facilities. Electricity is provided by a 24 hour generator. Hairdryers and safe are available at the reception desk. The camp is clustered around a water hole and the main areas are designed to take full advantage of the views. The central dining room and bar features floor to ceiling windows and a blazing log fire. The dining room serves both regional and international cuisine. The Water Hole Bar is located in a traditional ‘hide' which overlooks the water and offers unique opportunities for wildlife viewing.

DAY 04 OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY
Today enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in one of Kenya's best conservation havens. Ol Pejeta is a refuge to several endangered species, including the few remaining northern white rhino in the world. You’ll also have the chance to visit Sweetwaters Chimp Sanctuary, established to rehabilitate animals rescued from the black market.

DAY 05 OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY / SOYSAMBU / LAKE ELMENTEITA
Depart early this morning for Nyahururu Falls, also known as Thomson’s Falls to see its 237-foot cascade. Nyahururu is named after Joseph Thompson, the first European to walk from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the early 1880s. Then continue to the floor of the Great Rift Valley and on to the Soysambu Conservancy and your luxury camp on the shores of Lake Elmenteita. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon at leisure.



ACCOMMODATIONS: LAKE ELMENTEITA SERENA CAMP - Tent
Exuding breathtaking beauty, Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp lies on the shoreline of the sapphire-blue Lake Elmenteita. The small and exclusive camp is within the Soysambu Conservancy, a unique wildlife sanctuary, home to the Rothschild giraffe and a breeding ground for the Great White Pelican. Styled to echo the area’s rich history, the camp blends elegance with modern luxury. Each of the luxury guest tents offer views of the lake with its own private veranda. Tent amenities include telephone, wireless internet access, mini bar, electronic safe, tea & coffee making facilities, a bathroom with his & hers showers, bathrobe, slippers and hairdryer. The central dining area overlooks the swimming pool and the waterhole, while the bar has views of the lake.

DAY 06 LAKE ELMENTEITA
Following breakfast, depart for a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its seasonal concentrations of flamingo. Marvel at the shallow alkaline lake frequented by hundreds of water birds and other bird species. The number of birds in the park fluctuates as food and weather conditions change.



The park is a sanctuary for black and white rhino and also supports larger animal life including herds of waterbuck, warthogs, hippos, buffalo, the endangered Rothschild giraffe, and more! Return to camp for lunch and an afternoon at leisure.

 Hidden Gem: We have included an extra added value benefit for you today. With over 450 bird species on the Soysambu conservancy, enjoy a bird walk led by an experienced resident naturalist.

DAY 07 LAKE ELMENTEITA / MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
Start early this morning for your journey to the Maasai Mara. Climb the western escarpment of the Great Rift Valley and head towards the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, which boasts a rich concentration of wildlife. After lunch, a game drive takes you to Mara Serena Lodge, arriving as the sun sets over the plains.

Situated in southwest Kenya, the Mara is part of the northern section of the Serengeti National Park. One of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves, the Maasai Mara holds a diverse concentration of wildlife and is famous for the abundance of big cats, lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah and the great wildebeest migration. It is also home to the Maasai people, well known for their distinctive custom and dress.



ACCOMMODATIONS: MARA SERENA SAFARI LODGE - Standard room
Set high on a bush-cloaked hill with views over the savannah and down to the hippo-filled Mara River, Mara Serena Safari Lodge stands center stage to one of Africa's most dramatic wildlife arenas, offering a ringside seat for the “greatest wildlife show on earth”, the legendary migration of the wildebeest. Designed after a traditional Maasai manyatta, the lodge blends international sophistication with raw African beauty. DAY 08 MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
Each day in the Mara is dramatically different to the next. The drama of the Mara is never ending, the cycle of life and death is seemingly endless, it is this sheer magnetism that has captivated all of us and will captivate you. Enjoy morning and afternoon shared game viewing activities during your stay. Your camp is in a game rich part of the Mara which allows you to enjoy excellent game viewing. At the end of the day, return to your camp for a sumptuous meal before relaxing in the lounge area to share the day’s adventure.

The chefs and Maasai warriors welcome you with a charming ‘Jambo’ to a wonderfully set breakfast buffet of cold cuts, fruits, cereals and hot dishes with eggs made to your specifications as you wait. The hippos keep you company and only say ‘Kwaheri’ after you have had enough.

DAY 09 MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE / NAIROBI / ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA
Enjoy your final morning in the bush before retracing your journey across the vast plains of the Rift Valley. Arrive in Nairobi’s bustling city center in the early afternoon and enjoy lunch at The Carnivore. Afterwards transfer to Ole Sereni for a dayroom reserved for your convenience. Later transfer to the international airport for your ongoing travel arrangements.
